    IBM® Business Automation Workflow (IBM BAW) is a product that allows creating workflow applications to automate your business and thus improve your productivity. The workflow capability is also part of IBM® CloudPak for Business Automation, a platform offering that comprises various business automation capabilities that you can use to digitize all aspects of business operations including gaining real-time insight into your business.

    The development team in Böblingen is part of IBM’s worldwide business automation organization.

    Engineers of our team work in an agile development environment, and are responsible for the full software development life cycle – ranging from designing and implementing new product features through testing and supporting customers world-wide in continuous delivery process.

    Your Role and Responsibilities
    Are you planning to study for a Master’s degree or are you already studying for a Master’s degree in a full-time program? Our Master@IBM program combines full-time study with the career opportunities of a global technology company.

    What are your tasks?
    Our development teams in Böblingen are looking for a skilled developer with focus on back-end development, however, not excluding front-end skills.
    Your main responsibilities includes designing and implementing new features, optimizing and maintaining existing code, and ensuring the software meets high-quality standards through testing. You also work closely with other teams in the world wide team.

    What do we offer?
    Financial power from day one – with attractive remuneration. You can choose between 15 or 20 hours per week.
    Monthly (gross) salary for 15 / 20 hours per week:
    Year 1: 995€ / 1,326€
    Year 2: 1,298€ / 1,731€
    Year 3::1,437€ / 1,916€

    In addition, we pay the semester fees and reimburse travel expenses to the university in accordance with our guidelines. You will receive an expense allowance of €2,500 for your Master’s thesis. IBM offers internal training programs and the opportunity to obtain badges and certifications. Personal support from the specialist team and assistance with career planning as well as coaching and mentoring round off the package.

    Required Technical and Professional Expertise
    • Strong background in software development – back-end development and/or front-end development
    • Expertise in programming languages such as Java and JavaScript as well as Kubernetes and containers.
    • Embrace the challenge of change and constant learning 
    • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving techniques
    • Very good team player, but also able to work independently
    • Strong communication skills
    • German: fluent
    • Good knowledge in written and spoken English

    Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

    • Expertise in programming languages such as Python
    • REST, OpenAPI, JSON schema
    • Experience with version control systems e.g. git
