    Welcome to the team. So that you can hit the ground running, a structured onboarding process and a personal contact person will accompany you throughout the entire orientation phase. During your Master’s studies, you will work on exciting national/international projects. If possible, you will write your Master’s thesis in cooperation with your department.     Your Role and Responsibilities :
    Join IBM for an internship at IBM Research & Development GmbH in Boeblingen as Software Developer Frontend/Backend (m/w/x)

    To ensure that the IBM Data Gate and IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS maintain their innovative edge and uphold their quality we are looking for frontend and backend developers highly interested in developing an innovative, future-oriented solution for our large enterprise customers for their journey to the Cloud.

    Your main duties will include designing and implementing new features, optimizing and extending existing code, and ensuring the software meets high-quality standards through testing, debugging and automation. You will work closely with other developers, designers, and product managers to ensure the software meets user needs.

    A student joining our team will
    work in a multi-cultural team, collaborating with engineers in Germany, India, China and the USA to develop innovative ideas,
    gain deep knowledge in the development life-cycle of a large project, ranging from system administration over code development and testing to integration into existing products and frameworks,
    benefit from the work with supervisors having a lot of experience in software development and scientific work at universities.
    Examples for tasks in this internship could be web-based UI development, extension of automation scripts, integration of components into cloud environments, refinement of backend server code and improvements to monitoring utilities.

    What we offer:
    Financial independence right from the start – through attractive remuneration. You have the choice between 15 or 20 hours per week.

    Monthly salary with 20 hours per week:

    1st year: 1,326 € gross per month
    2nd year: 1,731 € gross per month
    3rd year: 1,916 € gross monthly

    Monthly salary with 15 hours per week:

    1st year: 995 € gross monthly
    2nd year: 1.298 € gross monthly
    3rd year: 1.437 € gross monthly

    Payment of semester fees as well as reimbursement of travel expenses to the university according to our guidelines
    Expense allowance for master’s thesis lump sum 2,500 €

    Required Technical and Professional Expertise

    • good Bachelor degree
    • Programming skills in object-oriented programming or Web development languages
    • Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git
    • Language proficiency equivalent to English C1 and German A2
    • Ability to work independently and in a team


    Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

    • Knowledge in database technologies
    • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, such as Jenkins or Github Actions
    • Knowledge in cloud and container technologies, such as Kubernetes or Docker
    • Experience in working with cloud providers such as IBM Cloud or AWS, Azure, GCP
    • Familiarity with test development and automation
    • Linux operating system skills
