    Covestro

We are Covestro. We are curious. We are courageous. We are colorful. We refine chemical material solutions with game-changing products. Let us empower you to push boundaries. Join us and our 18.000 colleagues now and together we will make the world a brighter place.

From our technology center in Leverkusen, we support our global production plants in the manufacture of isocyanates. Our daily tools include process simulations of varying complexity as well as modern methods of data analysis. The year 2023 presents us with a special challenge: we will be switching large parts of our process simulation to an innovative process simulator of the latest generation, AVEVA Process Simulation. To this end, our team is already working very closely with our colleagues at AVEVA to exploit the full potential of the new technology.

As part of your internship, we will integrate you into this and other everyday projects. You will have the opportunity to support us with the knowledge you have gained so far and we will offer you insights into the multifaceted challenges of simulating real large-scale plants. At Covestro, we are committed to an active intern network into which we will integrate you and through which you will gain insights into our company.

    Your tasks and responsibilities:

    • You will gain an insight into the process simulation of our production plants, model-based process optimization and analysis

    • You will provide support in the area of conceptual process design

    • You will also be responsible for applying data analysis and machine learning methods for process optimization

    • You will have the opportunity to work on your own sub-projects and discuss your results with the respective experts from our interdisciplinary team

With this profile you can convince us:

    • You are currently studying process engineering, chemical engineering, information technology, computational engineering science, or similar in an advanced bachelor’s or master’s degree program

    • You can already demonstrate a relevant expertise in the field of process engineering or statistical data analysis with application reference to process engineering, e.g. on the basis of good grades of completed examinations such as Process Development, Simulation Technology, Computational Process Development, or similar, or through bachelor’s or student research projects, or through your work as a student assistant

    • Knowledge in relevant process simulation software, e.g. Aspen Plus, AVEVA Process Simulation, or similar, or for data analysis, e.g. Python, is an advantage

    • In addition, you are creative, work independently and like to contribute to the team to achieve common goals

    • You are the right person for us, if you are aiming for a career in the field of research & development with a focus on process simulation in the future, typically as a direct entry or following a doctorate, for which this internship will give you good insights into the future professional life

The duration of the internship is between four and six months, which we prefer. Please indicate a possible start date for your internship in your application. Please make sure that your application is complete (cover letter, CV, relevant certificates, current certificate of study as well as study and examination regulations).
